$ cat Makefile
RESULT = false
all:
        RESULT = true

$ make
RESULT = true
make: RESULT: Command not found
make: *** [all] Error 127


RESULT is a "makefile variable", it can't be assigned during the execution 
of "make" (or maybe there is another syntax).
